My first novel, Alby and Me, is being published in May 2007 by Exposure Publishing (www.diggorypress.com), price £6.99 + £1.99 p&p. The E-book version is £3.00. The novel is a powerful and poignant evocation of the friendship of two unusual boys growing up on a tough Midland housing estate in the late 1940s. Set against a background of family strife, it is a gritty, compelling, often humorous account of a critical period in the boys lives as they encounter bullies, sexually savvy girls, a suicide, some vintage working class characters, and God. It is a story touched by both joy and sadness, and has an ending most will find hard to forget.
My other published and broadcast work includes plays, poetry, short stories, TV comedy material and non-fiction books on subjects as diverse as careers for the over-40s and Britain's treatment of enemy aliens in wartime.
